Until 2007, in the Russian localization, it was called sleep mode. The greatest benefits of using it are received by laptop owners, but it can also work on stationary PCs. In Microsoft operating systems, the user can use three power-saving modes. For regular PCs with a permanent power connection, it is preferable to use sleep and hybrid sleep modes. For laptops-hibernate.
Open the ” Run ” dialog box using the “Win+R”keyboard shortcut. Type the command “powercfg.cpl” in the text field and click “OK”. Using it gives you direct access to the power management section in the Windows control panel.
In the main field of the window, the radio button shows the current power supply plan for the computer. To configure it, click on the hyperlink marked with one or use the item in the navigation menu marked with two.

For security reasons, waking up from sleep mode is accompanied by a password requirement. If this is not necessary, for example, for a home PC, you can disable it.

File hiberfil.sys located in the root directory of the system disk, it is intended for writing information from RAM when the computer goes into hibernation mode. Its size is 80% of the amount of RAM installed on the PC. If each session ends with a shutdown on a desktop computer, there is no need to use a file that takes up free space.
Run the command prompt in elevated privileges mode. Type “powercfg /h off” in the prompt bar and press Enter on the physical keyboard. Hibernation mode on the computer is disabled, and the file is saved in the following format: hiberfil.sys it is deleted from the hard disk.
If you change the order in which the PC is used, you can switch it back with the command “powercfg /h on”. The operation does not require a reboot. File hiberfil.sys it will be created immediately after pressing Enter.
