In the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet, the Yandex mail service is one of the most popular. Our experts tell you how to set up receiving emails from it in the Windows mail client.
Selecting a Protocol
By default, the Yandex.Mail service uses the IMAP Protocol. Emails are stored on the server, and the mailbox can be accessed simultaneously from multiple devices. Synchronization between them is performed in real time. In the web interface, you can switch to the older POP Protocol. When using it, all mail is downloaded to the PC, and storage on the server is enabled as an option.
Go to your mailbox using the browser and click on the gear icon marked with the number “1”. In the expanded menu, select any of the items to enter the management section.
Click on the hyperlink marked with a unit. We go down on the parameters page and go to the section marked with a two.
Check the boxes next to the items marked with the numbers “1” and”2″ in the screenshot. The first one allows you to receive mail via POP puncturing, and the second one allows you to save messages on the Yandex server with the “read”mark. If you do not disable IMAP, the user can still use both options for accessing the mailbox, which will depend on the settings of the mail client.
Connecting via the IMAP Protocol does not require any preliminary changes in the configuration and is considered by our experts as the main one.
Open the start menu of the system and find the mail client in the General list of applications.
Click the icon marked with a unit to open the left panel of the Mail program. Click on the line with the selected frame.
The account management panel opens on the right side. Click on the circled “Add” area.
Yandex is not included in the list of pre-installed services, so in the window that opens for adding an account, select the option “Advanced settings”.
Click on the boxed area and select IMAP mail connection.
In the first column, enter the email address in the format “email@example.com”. In the second and fourth fields, enter your username before the “doggie”symbol. Enter the mailbox access password in the third line.
Scroll to the parameters page below. In the first line, enter the user name that will be displayed in new messages in the “Sender” column. As the incoming mail server, specify ” imap.yandex.ru». In the drop-down menu of the line indicated by the triple, select the “IMAP4″ type. As the outgoing mail server, specify ” smtp.yandex.ru».
Go down on the settings page to the end down. Make sure that all the boxes are checked and click the “sign In”button.
The program will automatically establish a connection with the server and synchronize the mailbox contents. We get a notification about the completion of the configuration and click the check mark indicated by the two.
Connecting a client using the POP Protocol differs from the procedure described above only in one point. At the seventh step, for the incoming mail server, specify ” pop.yandex.ru». Our experts have considered the option of changing the Protocol to access the mailbox already configured the program.
Go to the mail client account management panel. Click on the area with the description selected in the screenshot.
In the additional panel that opens, click the hyperlink indicated by the frame to change the synchronization parameters with the server.
In the area marked with a unit, open the drop-down menu. The POP Protocol uses session communication with the server rather than persistent communication. We set the frequency of receiving mail by selecting one of the values in the area marked with a green marker. Click on the “Advanced settings” link located at the bottom of the window.
In the drop-down field, replace the incoming mail server with ” imap.yandex.ru ” on ” pop.yandex.ru». We record the changes made with the “Done” button. When we return to the main window of the program, we check the mail manually for the first time. If necessary, enter the mailbox password to access the POP server.
The step-by-step instructions provided by our experts will help you configure the mail client included in the Windows distribution to receive emails from the Yandex. Mail service.
